The No-Brainers for Traveling OverseasNumber One: You're going to need a passport, and in some cases a visa. Be sure to check out the governments‚ websites, or perhaps the embassy for that country to find out what the restrictions and requirements are. Depending on where you are traveling, some countries require a visa for all stays. Other places, you just have to be out within thirty, sixty or ninety days. All countries require a valid form of identification for entry, which in just about every case means getting a passport and that god awful ugly passport photo. It seems to be a moral imperative that we should all look shell shocked in passport photos. Number Two: When flying, you are going to need to travel through airports and in many cases, Airport Parking. If you are flying through Gatwick for example, be sure to check out any necessary information about Gatwick Airport Parking. Or perhaps you are flying through the giant hub itself in the UK, Heathrow Airport Parking has many, many different kinds of lots, make sure you know which one you are supposed to go to. The meet and greet for most incoming overseas passengers will be where friends can pick you up. Gatwick Airport Parking actually has a fast track parking lot for business or frequent flyers that gets you in and out quickly and efficiently. Number Three: If you are visiting another country, you should always find out a little about the culture and language, especially if they speak a different language. Learning "where's the bathroom?" and "how much?" in most languages is very, very helpful. It's also important to learn if there are any taboo subjects or phrases or gestures that should be avoided at any costs. It never hurts to know a little about where you are going. And it is always important to find about the currency of where you are traveling. Number Four: Don't just go to tourist trap places. There are great for cheap souvenir gifts, but experience your vacation as a local would. Ask your concierge or cab driver for food, and pub recommendations. They tend to be filled with a wealth of knowledge of all the great, out of the way places to try for a great, affordable bite to eat. They might even know of free concerts or events that will only add to your experience.
